Please help, I'm using the paid version of LimeWire if it matters , Thanks ahead of time for the support, Oh by the way I had ilimewire running at one time but I had to do a reinstall, then I was using the jdk1.5.0, this time I used the jre version of 1.5.0, because for some reason the jdk wouldn't install correctly.

Dr Bombay, can you tell us about the version of linux you are running. We need the distro name and the version. If you know if its rpm or .deb, that would also help.

Dr. Bombay, that may be a tough one. There are definately some unusual problems with some of the Fedora Core distributions, especially with kernal 2.6. I'm definately not a guru, but that would be an RPM. Red Hat Package Manager type.

Xandros is Debian, but I have also installed LimeWire on PCLinuxOS which a hybred system using apt (debian) and Mandrake (rpm) I know there are folks here that can help you out, but unfortunately I am not the one.

If you would want to try a great free distribution with some of the latest, you can download PCLinuxOS. The latest is a installable "liveCD" version which is beautiful and powerful. It uses "diskdrake" for the installer which is included on the cd and has LimeWire installed by default along with other great packages including an office suite, cd burner, (k3b), email client and several browsers. You can also download the 2.6 kernal if you want to be on the bleeding edge and it is not as quirky as some other distros.

Sorry I can't help more.

You bet, Dr Bombay. Just get on your browser and type in pclinuxos, and it will take you to the site. Follow the links after you register and find the link to nv7a live cd. Its a free download and there are more programs in the depository than you can shake a stick at. I donate a little every month to help out but its not manditory.

After you see what it is if you like it you can send in something and if not you can move on or stay with Fedora Core. Give it a try you will be impressed. PcLinuxOs has some of the best looking GUI Themes included on the download.

what I did ; instead of using the rpm.bin, I used the Linux.tgz file and got it working, hopefully you will find this info helpful, also you should check the sticky thread in this forum about the java install, because there are a couple of things you need to do after you get it installed.
One more thing, I didn't use 1.4.2, I used the JDK5.0 you can find it here;
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
Again I hope you find this info. helpful
Yours Trully,
Dr.bombay
