Smile Installing 4.2.3 on Xandros

Hi all and thank you for LimeWire. I put off purchasing LimeWire for Linux because I thought I could never install it. I downloaded the free program and this is what worked:

Download LimeWire to a new folder in your home dir. called (you guessed it) LimeWire. After the download close all running programs and then goto the folder you dowloaded it to. Open the folder and click on the LimeWire program. Look in the url space at the top of the screen and you should see the LimeWire.bin open.

Next, open a terminal ie, tools>terminal/console. At the $prompt, type sh ./LimeWireLinux.bin and hit enter. The installer should start. Follow the prompts, the defaults will work ok. If it tells you that you don't have permission su to root, type in your root password and don't forget to choose your home directory or you can only run it as root!

After the install, look for the green world which is the shell loader and when you click on it you should see Limewire open.

If you want a shortcut on your desktop, right click on the desktop and select "new shortcut" Browse to the LimeWire folder where you installed it and double click on the green world icon and viola, a new shortcut. If you want a new icon just right and select properties. Click on the icon and when the icons show up, click on the one you want and there you go, a new icon.

After I saw how easy it was to install I had to purchase the pro version and it really rocks.

Thank you LimeWire for such a great product and a great installer.
