I am actually having a look at this code right now.

Is the options window too big for your screen? The options window is not resizable now basically due to standard gui design guidelines that say that option windows should not be resizable. I will likely change this code, however, so that it makes the window resizable if your screen is small or is running at a low resolution.

It is good to see that the LimeWire developers are monitoring tbe forum. Thanx!!

The window is much to small on my screen; I can only see the upper part; my screen resolution is 1280x1024; I am running XFree4.03, Riva TNT 2 and NVidia drivers.

Are you also working on the Linux version to make it compatible with Mandrake 8?

Best regards

Olaf

Post Mandrake 8.0; LimeWire Team pls read

First I have tried the Linux version, but during the installation the machine crashes so badly that I have to reboot. The problem did not occur with Mandrake 7.2.

Then I used LimeWireOther.zip.

Now comes the next problem. The program runs ok, but I cannot resize the options window. Due to this bug? I cannot set any preferences.

Please help...

Olaf

I have the same problem: the option wirdow is much too small and not resizable. The statstics window is resizable, though.

We will come up with a solution for our next release. I will probably simply make the window resizable for Linux users in general. While this is not standard gui design and is not ideal, it is probably the best I can do, as different versions of Linux seem to handle sizing differently here.

You should see this change in LimeWire 1.4c

I"ve tried installing LimeWire 1.4 on Mandrake 8.0, and it always tells me:

"The included VM could not be uncompressed Please try to download the installer again and make sure you download using the "binary" mode. Please do not attempt to install this currently downloaded copy"

Cool

I use Mandrake 8.0 with LimeWire and it all runs fine now. The trick is to install Sun's Java platfrom from http://java.sun.com
then u should get LimeWireOther.zip and run /usr/java/jre1.3.1/bin/java -classpath LimeWireOther.zip install
that will work normally, and then you can just run the binary as is (i.e. /*wherever you installed it*/LimeWire )
if that doesn't work, check that uncompress is in /usr/bin, if it is not, link gzip to it like: ln -s /usr/bin/gzip /usr/bin/uncompress and try again.

Smile god exists, his name is Micky Wicky :)

oh, thank you soooo much, i've been trying to install the thing on my RH7.1 for a week....the trick was to indicate the path to java1.3.x, as it seems Linux defaulted to another...may i suggest you post that trick to LimeWire ? their FAQ just forgot that crucial detail....

thanks again

Default

We will likely be moving to another system for these installers in the next several weeks that we hope will be much more satisfactory for everyone. We have yet to decide on precisely what changes we will make, so I cannot tell you much more at the moment.

Rest assured, however, that we are well aware of these issues and plan to make significant improvements to the current installation situation on all Unix variants. Our apologies for the current frustrations.

Default It's Huge

The options screen is absolutly huge horizontally and takes about 5 minutes to get to the end! Vertically it is not big enough and I can't see all the options© I am using the other lime wire as I couldn't get the linux one to work© Running redhat 7©1©
Apart from the problem with the option screen the program is excellent well done
