Backspace Key Does Not Work

I am using SuSE 7.1 Professional with LimeWire 1.4b. I've tried the Blackdown JVM's v1.1.8 and v1.2.2, and the Sun JVM for 1.3.1, and all have the same problem: My backspace key doesn't work in the search text field.

Any ideas?
