Default Opening with Mandriva LE 2005

Hey everyone,

I installed LimeWire from the rpm file, before realising I needed Java.

So I installed Java, and went to run the rpm file again. It said the program had already been installed.

My question: How do I open Limewire?

Thanks a lot!

Conor

Java was needed to be installed before limewire was..So uninstall it and do it one more time...If you have KDE for a desktop then open kpackage , search package limewire and uninstall it there..

Heres a Tip: Download limewireother.zip instead of the rpm to your home folder..unzip it right where it is, home folder, open the limewire file and find runLime.sh, click it..It starts, 90% of the time...Remember, LW is a stand alone platform, all it wants is java and a desktop to run on..

Ive did that tip on Slack and RH based distros and it works..You deb guys are on your own

Now i did read where it does take some linux distro a while to bring it up, ive only had that happen to me on PC-BSD..

If you want to know how to install it and get a icon in your menu then let me know..i forgot but its in my notes at home

Thanks! I take it you meant to say runLime.sh in the zip file?

Yes, it would be helpful if I knew how to fully install it!

Thanks
Conor

Delete the shared and incomplete folder along with the limewire folder you unziped. Open a terminal and type,

sudo unzip -u LimeWireOther.zip -d /opt/
sudo chown -R root:root /opt/LimeWire/
sudo gedit /usr/bin/runLime.sh

Use gedit for gnome or kedit for KDE.
Insert the following lines into the new file THEN SAVE IT.

cd /opt/LimeWire/
./runLime.sh

Again in the terminal type,

sudo chmod +x /usr/bin/runLime.sh
sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/LimeWire.desktop

Again, sub kedit for gedit if need be.
Insert the following lines into the new file THEN SAVE IT.

[Desktop Entry]
Name=LimeWire
Comment=LimeWire
Exec=runLime.sh
Icon=/opt/LimeWire/LimeWire.ico
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Categories=Application;Network;

Look in your Menu / Internet and there it is..
Hope this helps you out.
