Limewire BUGS Version 4.9.11 Java VM: 1.5.0_01. System: Slackware Linux 10.1 - kernel 2.6.12******1 and XFCE 4.2.2 as GUI Nuisance bug: Brazilian portuguese accents doesn't get displayed. Nuisance bug: Limewire system tray icon doesn't get displayed. Suggestion: Please come back with the "Quality (poor, turbo charged)" rating. I loved it. Otherwise program layout is fine. Thanks in advance, Carlos (MegaByte). P.S: tried to e-mail but it seemed down. |

4.9.23 latest(?) I've downloaded the latest Linux version from the official site and it reports 4.9.17 as the latest. Thanks for fixing the accent bugs and making the icon showing up, but I still get an invisible space together with it that won't go away. Enhancement tip: Could you remove the old frontend and use a gtk2+ frontend instead? Then it would really look native and system integrated. And I'd have the option to use my system theme. Yours Truly, MegaByte. |

P.s 1. The specs of my OS and system are the same from before. 2. Hints of apps dropping their frontend in favor of Gtk2 nowadays: Acrobat Reader 7, Realplayer 10, Open Office 2.0 (Beta). It also allows anti-aliased fonts that may increase productivity by 25% alone (with smaller fonts, say). |

There won't be any native frontends in the forseeable future (at least not from LimeWire). The connection rating can be enabled in the options. I believe, Java Swing already does antialiasing for fonts. |

Hmm.. 1.) Antialiased Fonts are really slow for now under Java/X11 - this will maybe improve when Mustang (aka java 6.0) will be released. 2.) I personally would not like GTK2 look and feel as default - gtk2 is a slow and unrepsonive toolkit (on slower systems) so my brain automatically asociates its look with god damn slow. lg Clemens |
