"Unable to use the specified folder" on normal user I have a problem when running limewire as a normal (non-root) user. When I run LW for the first time I, upon specifying a download folder, get a message that LimeWire was unable to use the specified folder for saving files. I already set the user group to the user I want to use, but I still cannot run Limewire. Is also set the group permission to r, w and x, yet I keep having this problem. Can anyone suggest something that might help. Thanks in advance, Ton van Boxtel |
logoff->login? |
BT-DT, already made myself owner of the executable as well. Is there any other way. I am considering recursively changing ownership or the mode of the entire limewire program directory, but don't know if that would be good idea. |
Sorry, not sure what the problem is. I have just default (read/execute) permissions and no problems. How are you starting limewire? |
simply typing "limewire &" from the shell - works when i first use su, but not from the "normal" user prompt. BTW, I can't see limewire as a process when using top, can only end it with xkill (or the normal clicking the x in the upper-right corner). My comp can be a bit slow, so the task bar icon can take a long time to show any response, but that's not the major problem. |
