Default Mandrake 8.1 install problems

I have read all the FAQs and read every thread in this forum that applies but still can't get LimeWire to install.

1) I did a search on installed RPMs and did a file search and find no instance of Kaffe.

2) I installed Java without a hitch.

3) I added the path of my Java install to my .bashrc file. When I type in version -java it comes back and tells me what version I have installed.

I do a su to root and then change to the dir. where I did the download and type in sh ./LinuxLimeWire.bin and get the same message everytime.
You must install a VM prior to running this program.

Someone please help me I'm at my wits end ! Thanks in advance.

After I installed java I had to edit the .bashrc file.
Here's what mine looks like although your path might or might not be a little different.

# .bashrc

# User specific aliases and functions

# Source global definitions
if [ -f /etc/bashrc ]; then
. /etc/bashrc

PATH=$PATH:/usr/java/jre1.3.1_02/bin
fi

Once I did that I went to a shell prompt and typed in " java -version " and it replied back with the version.

I was still unable to get it to install until I deleted the file I downloaded and then re-downloaded the file. It worked fine after that.

You might also want to read some of the other posts because someone had a great idea about creating a shortcut on the desktop by editing the " runLime.sh " file.

Best of Luck !
