maybe that's a stupid question but...

I don't have any idea about what I should do. Of course, I'm really new in Linux world so, that's normal and that's not the first time

I installed the Java v 1.1.3_02 as they say on their website, and then launched the LimeWireLinux.bin. Installer starts, and installation is successful. But I don't get a LimeWire icon, and when I try typing "sh runLime.sh", I get the message "-jar : illegal argument".
What's the problem ? Bad installation of Java ? Smthing else ?

On my old PC, I had installed LimeWire under Linux, and it worked fine. But it was older versions...

Any help would be really greatly appreciated ! Thanx !

First things first, I believe you were trying to say Java version 1.3.1 and NOT 1.1.3, correct? I have 1.4 beta installed, and I highly recommend it. Next, type "java -version" into a console (in ANY directory) and see what comes up. If you see the version of java that you recently installed (which should be at LEAST 1.3.1), then you're all set. If not, then java isn't installed properly. As for the icon, for some reason, the newer version don't seem to make an icon anymore. You can of course, easily make your own.

Hello,

I had the same problem. Probably you have an older Version of Java installed.
On my PC the old Version was installed in /usr/lib/jdk1.x.x. In /usr/lib there was a link called "java" pointing to the directory jdk1.x.x.
All I had to do was to install the new JDK in /usr/lib/jdk1.y.y, to remove the link (rm java) and to create a new link pointing to the new directory of the newer java version (ln -s jdk1.y.y java).
Since then it works fine.

Good luck.
