LimeWire Icon for LInux? I have Mandrake8.1, installed limewire and it runs fine. I just want to know how to setup an icon on my desktop so i can just click that to start it. |
Do you use KDE? Gnome? I'm assuming that you've already tried to make one and it didn't work??? Or do you not even know where to start? (It's very simple) For KDE, right click on the desktop, and create a new link to an application. Then use runlime as the application to link to. I made Clean Limewire icon friendly and even added an icon into the package. Hopefully Limewire LLC will do the same. |
I am using KDE and I tryed exactly what you said, but when you click on it, the box that says LimeWire comes up in the taskbar with the hour glass goin, does that for a couple seconds, then just disappears. I dont know what the problem is. |
Your problem might be that when Limewire starts, it isn't in the right directory. Instead of making a link, you could try writing a simple shell script that will change the path, /then/ start Limewire, and then link to that with a pretty LimeWire icon. Here's a sample shell script, of course all the directory names etc. might be wrong... #!/bin/sh cd /usr/local/limewire runLime.sh That might be it, but it might not. Worth a try tho. |
I still cant get it, I dont know what the problem is. |

LimeWire Icon There is a nice limewire-icon in LimeWire.jar. Open it with a zip tool and you will find com/limegroup/gnutella/gui/images/notsearching.gif Use the Icon Editor to save it as a *.png |
LimeWire Link Installed Limewire 2.3.3 to home directory in Mandrake 8.2. Made a KDE application link to /home/username/Limewire/LimeWire. Runs fine when the desktop link is clicked. |
