very basic question regarding security

all,

I'm brand new to LimeWire, and have a basic question: how do I set on my computer which files are open to share?

thanks,

to set up your shared directory, click 'tools' in your menu bar,
and 'options'. then click on 'sharing' and set up the directories you want to have shared.

from within LW? the only thing under my tools menu is "Statistics."

what? in tools there should be a menu called 'options' too.
if not, you can go to the 'library' tab and check what's displayed as your shared folder.

ok, i can see the contents of my shared folder, although not all are showing up.

but no, i don't have anything other than stats under my TOOLS option.

so did it help you?
if you want add files to your shared folder you gotta move them into the right folder. weird that you dont have a 'options'

it did help, but i still have a couple of questions:

I converted an .avi clip to a quicktime movie, and although it's in the same shared folder, it doesn't show up in my library.

also, the incomplete items folder is in my library, but isn't on my hard drive in that shared folder. is that folder only viewable while connected to LW?

thanks much,

<e>

thats weird. have you tried to refresh the view? it should show up. The incomplete folder is usually in the same parent folder as the shared one. For better viewing LW shows them as they were in the same folder.. I guess.

Hope that helps

On Mac OS X, "Options" is in the application menu - the one that says "LimeWire" in bold text.

LimeWire will only share files with extensions that are on its list of approved extensions to share. You have control over this list, which is also in the Sharing pane of the Options window. Give your QuickTime movie a qt or mov extension so LimeWire will share it with the default settings.
