For future reference, if the first root and branch extermination of everything with Limew in its label fails to work (and you are not going to be saved by the accident of an upgrade being available), uninstall and exterminate but then try restarting your machine in Safe Boot mode (ie hold down the Shift key while restarting to allow First Aid to operate, then immediate restart again). Now download and reinstall Limewire. More often than not, that does the trick whichever version of Limewire you install.
