Connection Limit 3... poopoo

what is the point of limiting connections to three?

Using a T1 I am unable to find what I was able to find in the past because of the limit.

With 3 connections you are now able to search most of the gnutella network. The new search architecture will not work nearly as good with more connections. Having 15 connections for example will sometimes return not even half of the search results that 3 connection get you.

It's a little complicated to explain, but the reason is that all gnutella clients drop queries they have seen before. With 15 ultrapeers, a search would probably reach your whole direct network neighborhood with the first probe queries but it would not reach much further because your whole neighborhood would have seen that query and it would not pass it on to nodes that are far away.
