Red face Please explain this!

I have a T1 connection and OS 10.2.4. Once upon a time, I was a happy, happy Limewire user. Then one day (when prompted), I decided to update to the latest version of Limewire (3.1, I guess). Since that sad day, nothing has worked! Nothing else has changed about my system. I have downloaded many times, cleaning the slate after each install.

The specific problem seems to be with the connection. And yes, I am connected in the broader sense. The message says, "Disconnected, no files to share" -- and the Search button remains "grayed" out so that I can't use it.

I even downloaded an updated version of Stuffit Expander. Didn't do any good. Nothing has. Why has this happened??? And more importantly, how can I fix it?

Thanks for any and all help...

I would first ask you to search the forums for other people who have had the eternal red dot (*chuckles*, funny name) and look at threads with people with your problem. Thank you.

First, delete the old preferences (search for "limew" to find 'em).

Then, since the last stuffit expander caused me a liitle grief: just do a safe boot(restart and hold the shift key downright after the startup chime until the cog starts to spin) and repair permissions (Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility). It's part of my standard practise after any install.

Even easier, then run jum's build of LW PRO for OSX ( http://baghira.han.de/~jum/ )

btw--you didn't change cablemodems recently by any chance?

Default same here

finally, i see someone has the same problem...all of a sudden, my limewire can not hold a connection. it began when i upgraded to 2.9.8. then i went ahead and upped to 3.0.2 in hopes of fixing it but it didn't...
repair permissions regularly and all that...
i have been a happy limewire user as well for quite a while, but as of the last few months, limewire has been unusable...

Sounds like you've tried all the sensible and usual. Can you rule out that the problem is upstream? Check with your ISP that they don't block or throttle common gnutella protocols.

3.2.0 does fix some connection problems . . .
