iTunes

could someone please explain how 3.5.8 is integrated with itunes?

being able to play files while they're still downloading, that would be useful integration but it doesn't seem to havve happened yet.

If you have the iTunes pref set in LW, completed tunes are exported into a playlist in iTunes called "LimeWire" and handled by whatever settings you are using in iTunes.

Using the LW "Launch" button should start it the completed download playing in iTunes if you have the "Clear Completed Downloads" pref unchecked.

Thanks.

My files launched in itunes before.

The limewire playlist is probably sensible, I suppose I'll find out if it's useful or not.

iTunes

Actually, while we're on the subject of iTunes, I wonder if anyone can help.
I've just upgraded to LW 3.5.8 and now whenever I try to lauch iiTunes I get the following message, 'The iTunes Music Library file cannot be read because it does not apppear to be a valid library file.'
??

If you are unable to open iTunes due to a bad library, try removing the iTunes.scpt file from your iTunes folder...that's the file Limewire creates to add your completed mp3 downloads.

The file will be recreated by LM.

limewire and iTunes integration

(Stief, sorry to bore you with this again).

I thought that even previous versions of Limewire had the option of transfering files to iTunes.
Or at least the option was there.

Before I transfered to 3.5.8, I would download a song file, and it would automatically go to my itunes music folder.

Anyway, my problem now is that I can't play a song from the Limewire library. When I download a new song file, I have to keep going into itunes just to hear it.
The real convenience before 3.5.8, was that I could preview a newly downloaded song file directly from the Limewire library window. Without having to open up another application! (itunes)
This way I instantly knew if I downloaded the right song, or if the sound quality was good, or even if it was complete.
Then, if the file was good, of course I would want to play it in iTunes. Of course when I'm just jamming to my song collection, I want to use itunes, but not when I'm just previewing files when I'm in a multiple file downloading session.

Now in 3.5.8, the LW player doesn't work.
The preferences are set right too.

Hi,

Stief asked me to answer some questions about "iTunes Support". I'm the guy who wrote it...

Well, the iTunes integration is quite simple. As stief already said completed (music*) downloads are automatically exported to an iTunes playlist called "LimeWire". Actually they aren't exported. The mentioned iTunes.scpt Script creates a new playlist (if not already there) and tells iTunes to add the tune to that playlist. iTunes does the rest...

There's no interaction between LW's build in Player/Library and "iTunes Support".

Drop me a note if more infos are needed.
