Nice clear post! How big is your shared folder? That can take a while to rehash, seeming like a freeze. Watch the dot at the bottom of the Search Pane to see the progress of the "Sharing *** of *** files.
Just let it work.

Also, to cut down on the first-time hashing progress, I don't connect to the network until the hash is complete, and clean out the incomplete folder to stop files that try to reconnect.

I had troubles with the QT and 10.2.8 updates, but all is good now.
