keeping itunes library tidy

Since I often download songs I'm not certain I want to keep in the end, I was wondering if there was a way to enable itunes support without having limewire downloads automatically dumped into the general itunes library? It's a pain going through and cherry picking out the files I don't want to hold onto. Thanks.

Help.

I actually want all my downloads to appear in iTunes but they just won't. Now I seem to have music in iTunes, Limewire, my iPod and harddrive and yet all seem completeluy unrelated.

An idiots guide from a techno helper would save enormous frustration.

many thanks indeed.

Well, I'm no techno genius myself, but I'm pretty certain that you can get your limewire music into itunes by clicking (on the menu bar) LIMEWIRE --> preferences --> selecting itunes, and then checking "enable itunes support". My understanding is that this will only effect future downloads, and so far as your current limewire library, you may be out of luck with transferability (i could be wrong though). With the files on your harddrive, you should be able to open itunes, open a finder window, go to the folder with the files, and simply drag and drop them into itunes. I don't have an ipod, so I wouldn't know about that though. good luck!

Go to preference and make your itunes folder your shared folder and the folder you save your music in. Dont use limewires MP3 player, and enable itunes support. launch the file once it is complete and if you then want to delete a song from your itunes library, just click on the song and clear it. itunes will then ask you if you want it to drag the song to the trash. This is how i have it configured and it works great.

I created a subfolder within my iTunes folder (destination storage for downloads) entitled "limewire" - and lo and behold it even showed up by name with my other iTunes playlists! From there I can put in in another playlist or drag it off kicking and screaming...
