transfer files from limewire to Itunes

I just upgraded to ver. 3.8.4 and suddenly have a problem. Before I upgraded when the songs were downloaded and complete they automatically appeared in my iTunes list under Limewire. Now they don't appear anywhere in iTunes (or at least I can't find them). How do I get the completed songs from Limewire over to iTunes now?

stief February 15th, 2004 08:39 AM

See LimeWire->Preferences->iTunes

clarklift27 February 16th, 2004 03:08 PM

same problem here, I upgraded to 3.8.5 at the behest of the popup and now completed files don't automatically go to Limewire as before. My Limewire-->Prefs are always set to enable iTunes support.

robbiekid February 19th, 2004 02:48 PM

Hi there

Yup - I've got the same problem. It's the new version of Limewire, I think it's got a fault and doesn't want to save stuff to iTunes.

Hopefully someone will realise and sort it out!

transferring files from limewire to itunes

has anyone worked out how to fix this problem? i am having the same issue...since upgrading to the latest version of limewire files no longer transfer automatically from limewire to itunes...

robbiekid March 1st, 2004 12:51 PM

Well, I've just gone into preferences. Selected iTunes. Unselected the 'Enable iTunes Support' tick box. Hit 'Apply' then go back in re-tick the box and then hit apply again, and it seemed to work.

Hope it continues to do so!

snroberts March 1st, 2004 02:56 PM

not sure how you figured that out but it worked! thanks

Can you please tell me where to find Limewire preferences that you speak about ?

rkapsi March 5th, 2004 05:48 AM

@hollie

You said in the General Windows Support forum that you're on Windows XP. This option is only available on Mac OS X.

Bob Lippold March 5th, 2004 08:26 AM

If I did say I was on Windows- sorry. I am on Mac OSX

rkapsi March 5th, 2004 09:30 AM

Sorry for the confusion, my reply was to hollie.

Limewire/iTunes xfer issues

I have the same problem. I was able to get some relief through preferences, but it only lasted part of one session.

I think there's just a basic problem.

Transfer problem solved!

FYI: I upgraded to 3.8.10 and the problem disappeared!

transfer files from limewire to Itunes

Okay. I have LW 3.8.10, MAC OS 10.3.3 and downloads all show up in iTunes Library immediately upon completion, hundreds of times, except for this 103Meg one. LW Prefs haven't changed but I toggled off & on anyway, tried all 7 of ursula's "how to add"... checked the Get Info on the file & it looks like any other mp3. It sits in my Shared folder but can't add it or a copy to the Library.

Even while I'm moving it all around and copying it and clicking it, other DLs are completing and popping right into iTunes.

What's left to check? I hate to trash this file 'cause it took all day to DL, and a new search doesn't even find it.

rkapsi May 14th, 2004 02:26 AM

It's maybe not a mp3. Solely it looks like a mp3 does not mean it is really a mp3. Files are sometimes named wrong and 103MB are very unusual for a mp3. Try other Players like QuickTime Player, VLC etc.

nspo May 14th, 2004 10:59 AM

Wow, thanks for the quick reply!

Yeah... LW, iTunes, and my Mac are all fine so I figured it must be the file. But the giant file SIZE does seem right, as it's a double-record set. ( And it's legal 'cause I have the vinyl;) )

I did find it again, now with 11 hosts, downloaded from 3 so it only took an hour. Had the first one still, and did NOT get the box saying "Overwrite said file?" so I thought maybe the first was bad, but the second one did the same thing-- nothing. LimeWire plays it, but iTunes won't and Quicktime won't. Is there any way to find out what it is? What is VLC?

(And why doesn't my sig file show up?)

VLC is an Audio/Video Player. You can download it at www.videolan.org. An other option is MPlayer. Both Players are quite fault tolerant.

Only an idea, but you could try MP3 Rage (available at www.macupdate.com). Use it to delete the ID3 tags which will maybe adjust some bits. You could also try a MP3 to Whatever (AIFF/WAV) converter (MP3 Rage can do it but I don't know if it's QuickTime based)...

nspo May 14th, 2004 03:29 PM

Thanks, I'll try those things.

And I found pics of "the middle of nowhere". :D

also unable to find Limewire musiv files

I just upgraded to OS X and can no longer import files either to my iTunes Library; in OS 9 it was easy. Has anyone solved this? (I have Limewire 2.9.11)

thanks

stief May 16th, 2004 09:33 PM

Time for an upgrade--LW 4.0 will be out Tuesday, and integrates nicely with iTunes, thanks to a lot of work by rkapsi and the devs.

iTunes 4.5 integration problem LW Pro 4.04 OS 10.3.3

Just upgraded to LW Pro 4.04, and my iTunes integration is completely non-functional. I get the "couldn't find iTunes components" error message after EACH downloaded song, and LW turns off iTunes integration. Nothing helps.

Importing manually by dragging songs into iTunes from download folder *does* work, but is obviously big pain. Hope this bug will be fixed soon. If anyone has found a solution to make the integration work again, please post instructions.

true777 if I were you I'd make a note of all my LW settings & then delete my LW preferences folder whilst LW is closed. It is found here: /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire
Also check your iTunes preferences>Advanced or see link below!

As rkapsi stated, not all music is imported into iTunes if it's a format iTunes doesn't have the ability to import. So it's well worth double-checking your downlds to make sure they were imported. Please see: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...ghlight=audion as this is very important to keep in mind. That's why I have Audion as a backup player which is now free so get it whilst you still can!!! ;)
