Saving downloads to a different hard drive

I'd like to save my downloaded files to a hard drive different from my start-up drive. When I go to preferences and try to change my folder it will only display the options on my "root" or startup drive. Is there any way around this or am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

I have shared files on a different drive or partition, so there shouldn't be a problem. Navigating the OSX finder dialog can be confusing, but it works. Post back if you need a screenshot.

However, sharing files on a removeable drive can be a problem if the drive is disconnected when LW is running, or if the drive is mounted after LW starts.

Cheers

I can put my Shared folder on the separate drive, but I can't get the same thing when I go to Preferences - Saving. The only choices I get are "Root" and a windows looking layout to select "Directory" on my startup drive. Can't get to any other drives. I've tried just typing in the drive, but it rejects that

Music/iTunes

A screen shot or other suggestions are appreciated.

Okay -- got it -- just had to scroll way over to the right and select "Volumes" -- then all my drives were listed.
