Unexpected unexpected quit

All of a sudden LimeWire stopped working completely on my system. No idea what I have done wrong, but recently when starting up, Limewire "was quit unexpectedly" right after the initial little blue startup screen.

Any ideas? I've updated to 4.04 (from 4.02) and still the same. A number of apps show the same behavior, perhaps something wrong with the OS? This is a rather fresh install of OS Panther 10.3.3, I'm quite new to X, don't even now how to properly deinstall apps here - where do I have to look for installed files? Limewire doesn't include a deinstaller!

Thanks

just use the find command to search "everywhere" for filenames containing "lime"--you should see the two folders where the files are installed. (/Applications/LimeWire and Library/Preferences/LimeWire). It's also a good idea to move or trash old installers out of the way and to really clean things up, trash the Incomplete folder.

btw--sounds like you have a problem with your java---a few of us had something similar after a fresh Panther install.

Just restart the computer holding down the shift key ("safe boot") which will run a filesystem check and repair. Run the disk utility (Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility to Repair Permisssions. Run Software Update to make sure your java is the latest. Restart normally and download the latest LW (4.0.5) and all should be better.

cheers

Thanks, did all that now and unfortunatly it didn't help. At the same point while starting up LW quits. Did I really manage to trash my system after just a week? :(

Try doing a software update. Apple just released a major update (10.3.4), and one of the things they fixed sounds vaguely like it could be causing the crashes you're seeing.
