It is happening to many other people but the most common reson is that those other people probably didn't follow any of the tips about configuring and searching.
Question is, have you?

Hmm, hmm...

How many files are you trying to dld at a time?
Also (as LOTR would no doubt say if he came by here) do you have any force resume files? They can consume bandwidth while trying to force resume.

don't forget that you can get a reliable check by downloading one of the free files from http://www.magnetmix.com/

Choose one--what kinds of speeds do you get now?

Thumbs down

I agree man limewire downloads slow, connects slows, and even slows down my computer so much i cant do anything else. I found the solution tho go to mac-p2p.com and get poisened it connects you to alot of diffrent peer 2 peer netwoks even kazaa and gnutella. Furthermore it only uses 10% of my comp speed instead of the horrible 80%. I tried pro and its still the same slow thing. Check out my last post about lime wire editted only because i didnt read the rules; This is what i mean by connecting.

I have been trying to download ******* and have gotten 2 out of the three disks. I only need 80kb of the last disk but for 5 days it has been telling me it is either connecting or waiting in line position 1. I share alot and by completing those last kb's i would contribute alot especially becuase i have cable internet. Any ideas?
Imac 600mz G3
1 gig of ram
40 gig hardrive

still waiting, it connects then im back in line. Worse part its only 80kb. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

About the 80k thing, I suggest (if I remember right, LOTR suggest the same thing) to run a search for the file. Once you find it (whaever the source, just make sure that there is the little icon on the left of the file is a folder with a green arrow going inside), kill the download and select the file from the search results, then download it again: if done right, the download will pick up from where it left and (hopefully) also download the last remaining kbs.
timski, do you follow some of the advice given for maximizing download success? What sources are you trying to dld from?

I'm having the same problems - Limewire is DEAD SLOW on 1024k cable! I tried downloading from magnetmix.com, but for the last 24 hours it's been awaiting sources, so I couldn't test the speed. The max speed I've seen is 1k !!!

I tried logging into mac-p2p.com but nothing comes up, both on IE & Netscape - any ideas ?

OK--something is throttling your connection to gnutella, because the www.magnetmix.com servers are working OK.
