Just won't quit

I have version 4.1.8 on a PowerMac G4 running OS 10.3.5. I have two concerns:

1)Attempts to quit just minimize the window onto my dock. I must force quit everytime.

2) There seem to never be any uploads.

I have a router with NAT, but I opened the port specified (3643 I think) and also opened same port on OS X firewall.

Any ideas or suggestions?

for 2), The usual setting for the OSX firewall, in System Preferences->Sharing->Firewall->New is the "Gnutella/Limewire (6346)." If you are using a different port, like 3643, create a new entry for that port. Really, though, if you are using a router, just turn the OS X firewall off.

for 1)--check the Limewire->Preferences for the shutdown setting. Looks like you want the "shutdown immediately" rather than the "shutdown after transfers are completed" setting.

While you are in the LimeWire Preferences, check out the Bug Reports. In the Example, scroll through the list until you find "Received Incoming this session=TRUE" If it says FALSE", something is still blocking connections which makes uploads difficult.

Yeah, I'm just dyslexic. I forwarded port 6346.

Yeppers, that was the fix. Thanks.

It says "TRUE". Don't understand why I never see an upload. Thanks for your help.

You're welcome--thanks for the clear and concise info.
You won't "see" uploads unless you watch the Monitor Pane, because the default setting in the Preferences for Uploads is to automatically clear completed uploads. The Library Pane has a column that shows attempts/uploads for each file during that session. The tools->Statistics->Bandwidth also shows HTTP transfers (uploads), so you can monitor the totals there too. If there are no HTTP uploads, then there might be a problem, but it sounds like your setup is doing fine.

cheers
