OS X.3.6 download woes

Hi, I have never had a problem with LW Pro in the past, but I'm getting shaky connections and even when it says "Turbo" I can't get downloads to come down.

It will give me the message "need more sources" and time out even if there are more than 100 hosts.

Last night, I updated to the latest version of pro and still no luck.

I'm currently running OS X 10.3.6 on a G4 PowerBook and the latest LW Pro. Any help thought or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've been using LW for years with great success and I'm a little frustrated.

TIA
KM

Can you tell us about your connection: What brand name & model of modem-router do you use??? Do you have any firewalls set up? Whilst LW is open do this test for us: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is your result True/False?

Sometimes LW needs baby-sitting where you need to continually manually search for fresh/more sources.

Here's some hints on optimising LW: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. The latter one I've been thinking about re-writing for some time. That's just for playing it safe. eg- I show all speeds & qualities.

I'm using an old Lan City modem on Cable. I have made no changes to my system and I'm not behind a firewall.

I found an old 2.x Pro OS 9 version on my system and it seems to work fine.

I don't really get an error, but I'll check into this bug report thing and some of the optimising stuff, but I've always had great luck right out of the box.

I guess this really domfounds me because I'm not a newbie.

Thanks.

That's ok, I was using LW 2 just 6 months ago! Those points will help anyway I assure you.

Sometimes a simple solution is to trash the LW preferences (whilst LW is closed) called .limewire If your Preferences folder is in list mode then it should be at the top of the preferences folder. But if you do delete your preferences for LW, you'll need to reset all your option settings again (no it won't affect your dwnld prefs: they're stored in a file called download.dat & found in the incomplete folder.) So it might be an idea you make a note of them if you decide to try this. This has been a simmple solution for many people. What's more, with LW2 both the LW prefs & dwnld prefs I found to become corrupted every few months.

Thanks, I'll have a look at all that.

So, myself and few other pals using OS X 10.28, I'm on 10.3.7 tried the above and came up empty.

I thought perhaps it was somethig with my ISP, but one of friends is on a different ISP than myself and having the same troubles.

Anyone no how I can get my money back?

It also seems a coincidence that this has happened around the same time Apple launched it's Canadian version of iTunes store!
