Does LimeWire on Mac OSX v.10.3.7 work?

I have recently re-installed my system software, completed all the Apple and Java updates, run Disc Utility from the hardrive AND from the installation CD, removed preferences, installed and re-installed Limewire (yes the Beta version too)...you get the picture.
The result...a bouncing Icon in my dock then poof! NADA.
If I have missed something please inform me. I am almost ready to download iswipe.

System:
20" iMac G5, 1.8GHZ, 768MB DDR

go steelers.

Yes, it works.

Try dragging the dock icon to the trash and adding a new icon, or just double-clicking the LimeWire icon in the Applications folder.

If that doesn't work, the error message (logged by your Console--found in the Utilities folder) would help.

Thanks for your help Stief.

Hmm--I'm not sure what the "Segmentation fault" is, but looks like a problem with the install process and the temporary directory. (corrupted installer?)

To start fresh, delete the installer from the desktop, clear the browser cache to get rid of the cached download (Safari, I assume), and download a new installer.

delete the /Library/Receipts "InstallLimeWire.pkg" (it's in the Hard Drive's Library)

delete the ~/Library/Preferences "LimeWire" folder

Do a safe boot (startup holding down the shift key after the startup sound).

Hey Steif:

Thanks again for your help. I decided to re-install my system software again and voila! it worked.
The only thing that I can pinpoint as a possible reason for my trouble is that I installed Norton Utilities. I don't know if there are any known bugs or issues with this software, but I have not installed it and everything seems back to normal.

I suspect that because Norton installs part of it's code on the operating system it does not allow the connection Limewire needs to boot up.

I trashed everything I could find related to Norton, but there was still some of it's code on my system because of a persistent pop-up message when I would start-up my machine. Only a re-install and archive could completely remove all of it's contents.

I wonder if this is an issue others are trying to figure out as well. Hopefully, this will help.

Have you tried some of these ideas hee: icon bouncing in dock Particularly the Jum build & also the standalone installer ideas such as the Java standalone.
