Limewire will not open...

I am running Limewire 4.0.8 Pro, my mac recently got reformatted and i saved the dmg file on my external drive...
now, when i intall limeiwire the icon appears on my desktop and a folder with all contents is created in my applications folder...

but when i click on the application file... it thinks for a few seconds, and does NOTHING...
Please can someone help advise me what i should do...
i can;t get into limewire even to update to the newest version...
