blocking ip?
 
herd all this trouble of people being suied for file sharing. is there anyway of blocking the internet ip so you become untraceable?

Yes, but it means unplugging your machine from the internet.

As long as you are connected to the internet, your IP address will respond to requests of many kinds.

You cannot even get Mail without an IP address. Your email address gets translated into an IP address in order to get to your computer.

Google for "secure file-sharing" to see how far away any internet activity is from being secure and anonymous for the majority of internet users

I've never tried the mac version but if you look carefullly you'll find a link for it; Peerguardian: http://peerguardian.methlabs.org/pg2.html (FREE) It will help to block out known organisations that try to gain info on p2p users. And yes there's agencies that are employed by larger industries to find out info for them.
