Limewire 4.9.11 will NOT open

my Limewire 4.9.11 app will not open at all for some reason. i double click on the app in my Mac HD and it seems like it's about to open, but then it doesn't. same thing when i click on the icon in my dock. i'm running Mac OSX 10.3.9, and i've already installed the Java 1.4.2 updater. i've also tried trashing all of my Limewire files and completely reinstalling Limewire, with no success. and i've also already repaired permissions on my HD.

any suggestions? thanks.

Open the Console (/Applications/Utilities), click the Clear button, double click LimeWire and tell me what Console is saying...

i CLEARED the console and then double clicked limewire, and the console remained empty/cleared. should it be showing some kind of activity? or not?

Yes, it should show the cause why LimeWire doesn't start. Check if console.log is selected...

nothing in console.log. but i am getting some error messages in the system.log window.

error:

===== Sat Jul 30 2005 ===== 13:13:15 US/Pacific =====
Jul 30 13:13:29 localhost crashdump: Unable to determine CPSProcessSerNum pid: 541 name: LimeWire
Jul 30 13:13:29 localhost crashdump: Started writing crash report to: /Users/tmborden/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/LimeWire.crash.log
Jul 30 13:13:29 localhost crashdump: Finished writing crash report to: /Users/tmborden/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/LimeWire.crash.log

does that make sense?

rkapsi July 30th, 2005 01:23 PM

Jup, makes sense but it means nothing good.

OK, lets see what the crash log says...

Expand ~/Library/Logs (press the gray triangle), expand CrashReporter and select LimeWire.crash.log.

Press the Clear button in the Toolbar and double click LimeWire and post the output of the Console.

there's actually no limewire.crash.log file in that folder (see attached). i assume that's not good either?

tmborden, you have to go to LimeWire.crash.log by navigating directories "IN" the console. Click on the "Logs" icon to show the directories, I'll show my screeny.

thanks for clarifying that. i've now got a huge crash report for limewire. it's too long to show entirely in a screen grab, but the first 20-30 lines are below (for some reason, this forum wouldn't allow me to attach the screen grab b/c it was too large). does this script offer any insight?

thanks for all your help.
