Unhappy Can't uninstall; tried everything

I have tried dragging folders to the trash ("This operation could not be completed since you do not own this item"), tried looking for the uninstall file (doesn't exist on my drive), and tried downloading the installer again and looking for an uninstall function (wasn't there). I've checked all the threads I could find on both the official Mac site and this forum and haven't found any answers. I think the problem resides in me not 'owning' Limewire, but I don't know what that means. Can anyone help, please?

So you use a mac right? Is that OS9/X? It makes a big difference! You might not have permissions to delete it. In other words you are not the admin of your comp. You should be able to just drag & drop to trash. Highlight the folder & program & Apple & i keys, go to ownership, change it to you & make it read & write. If it's locked, unlock it. Else, start up in os 9 or your startup disk & then delete it. For os9 if that's what you're using, there's an uninstaller.

Cool Problem solved

You are right. I played around with this some more after I posted my plea for help and finally got it to work. If anyone else as this problem, here's what you do:

1. Highlight the LimeWire folder and "Get Info" (File: Get Info or Flower Symbol + I)
2. Click on "Ownership & Permissions" and expand
3. Grant "Read & Write" Access to all fields (Owner, Group and Others...I'm not sure which one fixed the problem so I recommending granting full access to all 3)
4. Click "Apply to enclosed items" so you can delete all the contents of the folder
5. Now you should be able to drag & drop into the Trash

I've just read this thread with great interest. I thought you'd solved my problem of not being able to uninstall LW from Mac osx 10.5. I followed the instructions posted here but when I get to "3. grant read & write access to all fields" it wont let me. On the "get info","privileges" page the menu to click on is shaded and cannot be changed and it says owner:System Group:www
PLEASE HELP ME!!!! my web browsers are SOOOO SLOW since I installed LW.

I should point out that I am logged on as administrator.
