1. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:

2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. Who is your isp provider?
9. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
10. Are you sharing the connection with other comp's?

My apologies, I must have missed your previous reply.

Are you networked with any other computers? If yes, how many othrs? Are they mac or windows? How is it networked? I'm wondering if there's another firewall you're not aware of that is disallowing LW a connection.

Hi Lord

Yes I am networked with others Macs & PCs, we are over 60 users in here 16 from them is Mac users, for your info.. I can't get POP mail to my e-mail software (Mail) I think it is blocked there from the server for some reason, I don't know if that would help you to help me.

I need some thing from ypu if you can:
I need the FireWale setting..

and another thing, I have LimeWire pro 4.9.11, I just download 4.9.24 but it is asking me to update to pro..!!!!

Why? did I download a normal version of LimeWire I mean not the pro?!!

You will see that Lord of the Rings is a resident of Middle Earth, now if you check your world time clock you will see that it is night time in Middle Earth, and even he must take an occasionall nap .... patience is a virtue hell no.... with computers its a necessity...

If you look at LOTR's post count and realize those are people he's helped, be asured he will get back to you when time allows. He is not a fulltime employee if Limewire AFAIK just a volunteer.

when ever you update I think it will ask you to update to pro ... just click NO or Later if you don't want to up date. ah..... checking back I see you have pro ... so when you went to download the update you should have clicked Get pro, then gone to "already bought pro" and follow the simple instructions.

Sorry I am not very clued up on firewalls

What about changing port for LW since you are many and some are maybe already using the 6346 port?

You could try for exemple:
1111
4008
10000

Go in Preferences ->Advanced ->Firewall to change ports. Disabling UPnP to the option Do nothing might also help in that preference pane, because you try connecting at work.

Of course, LW should normally be run at home instead of at work, live with the consequences.

Ciao

Hi,
I have an emac 1.42ghz w/512 10.4.2
home wireless network using Airport extreme base station.

I tried the test web site and it worked.

I checked out the ken norris post, copied and pasted the fix into terminal, but had no luck.

there was no option for gnutella when i opened the port so i created a new one using
TCP Port Numbers(s): 6346
UDP Port Number(s): 6348

I then tried different ports, all with the same result. It starts to open, when the splash screen comes up it stays for 2 seconds, then closes.

does anyone have any other advice?
thanks
