OS 10.4.2 update

I've just updated the latest 10.4.2 security patch and now limewire doesn't work. I've upgraded to the latest version too. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, is there a workaround. I've looked on Limewire's help and can only find the problem occuring in 10.3.9. Cheers. Mark.

I just double-checked that my G5 iMac with OS X 10.4.2 is up to date as of half an hour ago. LW 4.9.23 runs fine for me.

What kind of machine are you running?

What do you mean by "LimeWire doesn't work"? Does LimeWire crash before showing the startup screen? Does LimeWire show the startup screen and then crash? Does LimeWire continue to run without being able to connect to the Internet?

Have you tried changing the JavaApplicationStub that LW uses?

OSX 10.4.2

Thanks for that, sorry late in replying, I've been away. When I updated to 10.4.2, tried to run limewire, the icon in the toolbar bounced a few times then stopped. It just wouldn't run. I tried running from the programme, nothing. I followed the fix you described, still nothing, updated to the latest version, exactly the same. I've tried to find everything associated with limewire, deleted it, reinstalled but still, the icon bounces a few times then nothing. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Have you had any luck? I'm having the exact same issues on my powerbook. I thought that it might have sumthing to do with my recent install of shapeshifter but after disabling and then ultimately uninstalling it I got no improvement.

Well before Kmag returns, what i'd suggest is it's usually a java issue. Reinstlaling java generally does the job. But I haven't seen a standalone offline installer for java 1.4.2 for 10.4.x I don't suppost you've tried suggestions made in the stickys of this section. I'm not of tiger experience so I can't speak from that reference point.

I went to the link you provided and tried everything with no success. I did have one issue when I tried to reinstall the java update as a standalone. I got a error message saying that I could not install on the selected volume beside my java was already up to date.
I guess at this point I guess I'll just have to wait for a new version of LimeWire, I wonder when do you think that will happen? Maybe even an update to 10.4.3 will help whenever that may be.

I figured it out back when Security Update 2005-007 v1.0 came out people complained that it broke 64 bit applications. I dont know if LimeWire is or not but Apple released v1.1 which was supposed to fix the problem. I figured its worth a try, it worked.
Get it http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/securityupdate2005007v11macosx1042client.html

Ah, thought this might be the problem, it was after an update (can't remember which one, but one that came with 10.4.2) that Limewire failed to open. I did all the things suggested by Lord of the Rings, and also downloaded the new Security update and restarted, still won't open. I've downloaded the latest version of Limewire too but still no success. Is there any other tweak I've missed? Cheers
