Another Startup Crash Error...

Sorry to start another thread on this, but nothing has worked for me so far.

I'm working on Panther OSX 10.3.9, and I can install alright, but when I go to open it, I get "The application Limewire has unexpectedly quit." everytime.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled many times, I've unblocked it from the firewall list, I've reinstalled/updated my java. Help please? :(

I am having the same problem except I am running on Tiger instead of Panther. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

LW crashes

IF Voice Over ( on System preference / Universal Access) is activated, try to desactivate it. It worked for me.

Salut, the crash you just pointed out is an Apple Java crash, not a LimeWire crash.

I would suggest you going onto the apple.com download page and reinstall the latest java upgrade on your osx machine.

Bonne chance

I am experiencing the same crash quite often (every few days), and I am running the latest Java version available for Panther.

Startup Crash Error

I, too have installed, reinstalled, and uninstalled , discarded p-lists, repaired permissions, and get the same crash report, exactly as was just cited on this thread.

A question:
when I open 'terminal', to try reprogramming, no windows open, just a teeny little fraction of a screen, only big enough to contain a 'close' button. I never got to try new commands for java, because it won't produce a window. A small screen with an empty text area opens, but then disappears into a tiny corner of a window's task bar with one button on the upper left. Suggestions? I must be missing something very basic.

Thanks much. The suggestions are very much appreciated by this reader...

i have changed the universal access, updated the java. it wont let me update security. it says that the volume does not need to be updated.
and still LW quits on start up!

Hello again,
After many reinstallations of java, Mac patches, Limewire, and trashing p-lists, I'm not sure why but it is now working and has been all day. ANd survived many reboots. I did learn that the p-lists often are the cause of problems, or are a good way to figure out what the problem is. Remove the p-llist from Preferences, the applications immediately create new ones that lack the offending information which perhaps existed from before all the trouble started.

It would be nice if it were a less capricious event, and could be resolved in some sort of a patch from Limewire...????? or Apple? this is obviously a serious and consistent problem.

thanks for all the suggestions and support. This is a great forum with very knowledgeable and intelligible people!
