can't connect i downloaded limewire last week on my Tibook 1GHZ running Panther 10.3.9 and it worked like a dream. Then on Sunday I stupidly decided to move the desktop icon to the applications folder and it stopped working completely. I deleted the application from my system and downloaded it again. I made sure to delete the limewire preferences as well, then installed it to my system. When I click the limewire icon now, whether in my dock or desktop, it starts to load then quits. An error message comes up the first time saying "Limewire has unexpectedly quit..." After that, when I click the icon eithe in the dock or on the desktop, the app tries to load briefly then just disappears. I have the gnutella port open in my sharing folder in system preferences, so that's not the problem, I have the java update installed so that isn't the problem. I'm stumped. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |
1. Downld & install this Java: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...update142.html If it won't let you, double-click the harddrive icon, open the Library, open the Receipts folder, then find the file: Java142Update2.pkg, delete it & try again. Receipts folder sample image 2. Double-click the harddrive icon, open the Library, open the Receipts folder, then find the file: Install LimeWire.pkg, delete it & reinstall. 3. Try these if still problems: (a) SAFE Boot & Repair Permissions, (b) Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption BTW I don't know why moving the alias should make any difference. I don't use an alias, I delete it. I simply have LW permanently in my Dock. Else you can get a decent launcher for files/programs/folders using Butler which is a little like Apple menu items for os 9 & earlier but better. |
