no website support for PRO I bought?

Hi..... My first post.

I'm new to LimeWire. I recently bought the PRO version (4.9.33 pro) and have not been able to access any webpage support for the program. Entering my email address in the submission box and clicking submit only redirects me to the advertisement page showing the differences between PRO and Free Trial versions.:o

Any information about PRO support would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You!:p

How much did you pay??? US $18.88 is the only price. See Membership? - *WARNING * BEWARE* - Download p2p Clients ONLY Thru Official Sites If that's not your issue then send a pm to mformel on this forum.

Thank you LOTR.

I believe I bought the PRO version from the offical site. I've sent a message to mformel

I also purchased PRO from the correct site, and it briefly worked. When it no longer worked, I attempted to go to the LIMEWIRE PRO support site and ented my e-mail as per the instructions, but the LIMEWIRE site said my email address was not valid. This is despite me utilising the CORRECT email address that LIMEWIRE sent to me confirming my subscription and payment. Sites such as this do lots to discredit internet transactions and so-called help-desks and as such I will be actively encouraging colleagues not to use the service, as it simply is a RIP OFF. You know, take your money and run as it the growing trend in Internet companies.

I was not after support (which I understood expired after 6 months) - I was just wanting my purchase to work as purchased!!!

There's lots of members on this forum willing to help. But you'll need to post your problem with full details about your computer configuration, isp provider, etc. in the appropriate section.

LW can hardly be considered a rip-off as it offers LW Basic which is a free version to try before you buy. Many people just stick with the Basic version. As to why you can't get your email to be acknowledged I don't know. I do know they had people trying to access the pro page using bogus email addresses, etc. so have been trying to combat it. Unfortunately it seems to be affecting the average pro user.

To be sure you have the pro version, open LW & go to the menu bar, select the Limewire word in top left corner > About LW. This will tell you which version of LW you have. See http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=46629 & you'll notice it should say LW Pro. What does yours say?

Thanks for your quick response & attempts to advise me BUT......

My version of LW is NO LONGER PRO. It DID say PRO.. up until recently (With all the functionality of PRO!!! I paid the 19 bucks. I expected to retain PRO, but it appears that the updates since then have deleted my ability to utilise PRO. The e-mail confirming my purchase of PRO was:

QUOTE

Merchant: LimeWire PRO
Order ID: (omitted for the Forum)
Amount of Transaction: $18.88
Payment Type: VISA

Thank you for choosing LimeWire PRO.

Please go to http://www.limewire.com/english/cont...pro_lookup.jsp to find your link to download LimeWire PRO.

UNQUOTE

The above e-mail from LW was from sales@limewire. It was addressed to the e-mail that I recently put in to ask the question as to why my purchased PRO no longer worked. The LW site looks like this:

Enter the email address you used to purchase LimeWire PRO:

Your Email Address SubmitReset
The email address 'OMITTED FOR FORUM' was not found
Please try to remember the correct email address and try again

If it has been superseded by a more modern version, all I want is access to the original version that I PAID FOR! I understand that I no longer get SUPPORT (I never used the support anyhow) - LW PRO was working just fine. Nowhere did it state in the sales contract that the software that I purchased would EXPIRE (something that I suspect has happened)

Ah ... you got an update warning so you updated. Free pro updates for pro are only offered for up to 6 mths after purchase. At the end of the 6 mths you will be offered a discount for a very short time to continue with pro but it looks like you're over that 6 mth period. That's why your name has dropped off their database. But you can still use your pro for as long as you like if you still have the older pro "Offline" installer.

A Normal Guy October 30th, 2005 11:15 PM

Exactly. You have hit the nail on the head. The purchase was for only six months. See what I mean - A RIP OFF!!!!

Nowhere would it say that my software was onlt valid for 6 months....

I have attempted to use the 'old' downloaded PRO as saved, but it still requires going to the LW site to 'confirm' using e-mail!!!

GGGRRRR!!

Thanks anyway, you have confirmed my suspicions as to the business ethic of the company. ....frankly similar to most 'on-line' merchants. They get Normal Guys like me to cop up cash and then they run...

Thanks ma' Lord.

Name me one single software company that offers a commercial product where you have infinite free updates until well after you've died. Welcome to the world of software. Software companies have to survive somehow & having continual income is part & parcel of their survival like it or hate it. You can still use what version you started with forever. After all, the differences are not so great. Remember the LW Basic version which is also not so different is free. $18.88 doesn't exactly break anyone's bank. The 'ethic' as you describe it is exactly the same as all "major" softw companies. As I said, like it or hate it but you always have options unlike dealing with many of those major companies. Just my thoughts.

A Normal Guy October 31st, 2005 06:32 AM

Thanks for the thoughts m' Lord.

Actually, My Computer manuafacurer continues to update its software well after the 'warranty period' and 'free support' expires. (now 5 years old!!) Also my Son's WINDOWS 95 machine STILL works as I PURCHASED the MS W95 software. It may no longer be supported - fine....... BUT IT STILL WORKS. and I can re-install if it goes wrong.

Even if I err by pressing the 'update' button, surley I should still be able to run software as purchased.... uninstall the 'update' so to speak. Nowhere was a 'trial' or expiration period nominated for the licence to use the PRO software. Maybe they should specify this, so 'normal guys' like me FULLY understand that the purchase is for a limited time. They should tell the whole story.

I never wanted anything for free..... (even though LW basic as a free service is quite good)

Thanks for the advice on modern software developers ethics. I agree that they need money to continue to develop, but give me my original PRO back!!! 18 bucks is still 18 bucks. Value is not the point.

Cheers.
