Firewall and limewire

Where I work a firewall has been installed and now I cannot get Limewire to connect at all. It works fine for me at home on a dial connection. I am very raw at this but perhaps it is a port that I need to get opened. Any ideas????
Thanks

Hullo,

I to am searching for information on dropping the firewall on my mac. I don't appear to NEED to do this though because LimeWire says I have a "turbo-charged" connection speed. I notice however that LimeWire is detecting a firewall. Currently, I have disabled the firewall on my mac, have disabled the firewall on my Belkin router, and I (believe) have opened up port 6346 on the virtual server settings for the router. Incidently I didn't need to do any of this to have LimeWire working fine.

If I am able to use LimeWire with a "turbo" connection, does this mean all the ports LimeWire needs are open, and Limewire is simply detecting that I have a firewall but is not being bottlenecked by it?

Aloha, McH

Dave check out this website for general port forwarding information if you are using a router.

It was helpful for me.

The quick and dirty way.....

Simply plug your modem directly into the 'puter and bypass the router set up. This is what I do. It gives me the fastest connection possible. When I am done I plug the router back in the way it was for wireless networking.

There are also a lot of posts on firewall / router issues on this list. A little topic searching will go a long way to finding your best solution.

g'luck! :Smilywais::Smilywais:
