Oh elusive firewall... I have searched and enabled and disabled and restarted and crapped myself twice to try and get the "detected firewall" to go far far away. With TCP and UDP open to 6346, Firewall off and everything else I read and tried for the past few hours, what else can I do. Java and Limewire updated just fine thanks. |
sounds like the "firewall" is outside your machine, further upstream somewhere. A university (or other such institution) would have firewalls out of your control, and some ISP's allow/don't allow users to block ports, for example. Any idea where such a firewall would be in your case, since it's obviously not inside your Mac? |
I've had the same experience. I can, and always have been able to recieve files via P2P LimeWire, but apparently no one is able to reach my 'puter to upload my shared files. It has been pointed out to me on this forum by helpful readers that I may need to make a STATIC IP for my router. I haven't done this yet because I have a tenant who uses the same router for his IP's and I am reticent to mess with anything that might mess his connection. In the mean time I do feel a twang of guilt for not making myself available for uploads. If there was/is a way to make this possible witout having to have a static IP, I'd like to hear about it. As for your problem. Are you using a router? Is there a router support page that can help you with opening ports on the router from it? Have you looked at the website portforward.com? Aloha, Mike |
