Movies Wont Play Entirely

Hi.
When I download movies of large size, eg. 200mb, they play okay in preveiws usually, but once it has completed they play only about 5mins worth of a much longer movie.
Mac OSX 10.2.8
Quicktime 6.5.3.
I have tried other players with no result.
they player states that the movie is 5 mins. The file is not corrupt. It happens with many different movies. Though, I think only mpgs.

Are VLC (www.videolan.org) and Mplayer (mplayerosx.sourceforge.net/)among those players you've tried?
Normally they should be able to play those mpegs just fine.
