LimeWire/iTunes

I have always been able to drag and drop from LimeWire to itunes and no longer can. Have recently purchased Quicktime Pro for the video ipod and am wondering if this caused a conflict. Have been playing with videos and wondering if I changed a setting I should not have? Any ideas. I tried the 8 steps none of which worked. Thanks for any help.

I have the same problem of not being able to drag and drop in itunes too now. Yesterday I had an older version of itunes 4.6 and since I upgraded to 6 this morning I can't drag and drop from my Limewire folder. Why? And how can I fix this?

Help would be great.

In LW Preferences > Itunes > Import, is the "enable the support of iTunes" checked or not ?
This option will force LW to send the download mp3 to iTunes, in the 'LimeWire' playlist..which, precisely, avoid to drag-n-drop
Try to check/uncheck and see if this changes something

philippe99, I did what you said and there's no change. It was checked before so I unchecked it. Nothing. Then I reverted back to checked and still nothing.

Is this an itunes thing I'm thinking?

Ok, well
In my case, this box is chhecked and the downloaded music directly goes into iTunes, in a labelles "Limewire" playlist.
So, I must admit, I never had to use drag-n-drop to put music into iTunes.

So, now, the problem is not (only) the drag-n-drop issue, but the fact that the downloaded music does not automatically go into iTunes

I start searching on the Web: I'm still under iTunes 4.9 and do not know how iTunes 6 can be the culprit.

In the meantime, to suppress the issues related to permissions, prebindings and caches, could you apply the following maintenance tips and, in between each of themm, retest ?

First level
--------
Close all the running applications (except the Finder)
(1) Could you try to repair permissions
(must be admin)
Launch Applications/Utilities/DiskUtility
On the left pane, select the drive
On the right, select the First Aid (or SOS) tab
Then click on repair permissions and let run; don not worry about messages like " new permissions...."
Quit DiskUtility
Shutdown and reboot

(2) could also download Macjanitor
http://personalpages.tds.net/~brian_...acjanitor.html
and use it to run the maintenance scripts
The maintenance scripts are Unix scripts which are automatically ran on your
Mac between 02Am and 04 am..if your Mac is on at this moment.
I can advice you to run, through Macjanitor, the daily script each day, the week script each week, ..and so on

Second level
----------
(3) Could you also download Onyx
http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs/english.html
Go into the cleaning tab and use it to clean the caches. use the defauts Onyx offers, do not
clean at this stage the system caches.
!!! Please download the release corresponding to your OS !!!

There are times when iTunes will stop importing automatically. I find it's when LW is too busy & particularly if it's been running for a long time & is particularly busy. A restart of LW usually does the trick. But phillipe99's advice is a little more complete. Are you aware that after installing new programs or system updates that you should Repair permissions after doing a SAFE booting (restarting whilst holding down SHIFT key until you see the message Safe rebooting.)

Oh I didn't read your post properly. You can't drag & drop into iTunes? Do you drag & drop it onto the icon in the dock or onto the itunes interface or program icon or onto the library icon above the playlists? There's a small difference between them. ie: iTunes behaves differently.

iTunes will NOT import an identical song file. But for itunes to refuse, the song file must be identical via both filename & id3 tag. So check your iTunes library to see whether you do in fact actually already have those songs.

Actually, I had what you have now. But now in 6 I can no longer take an mp3 from my Limewire playlist folder and drag (copy) it into another list in my itunes like my ipod folder. This is why I think it's not a limewire issue but an itunes thing. Preventing me from copying the files anywhere else. Now I can only listen to the songs I download when limewire is open.
