Limewire stopped opening

I know this problem have been posted SEVERAL times but like many others with the 10.3.9 update my Limewire Pro will not open anymore. This problem started after accepting the latest software update from Mac. I've tried every solution that has been posted as of 1/17/06. Nothing has worked. Any new ideas? Thanks!

Limewire stopped opening, too

My Limwire icon has a small black arrow pointing to it on my G4 Power Mac. The program will not open after having done so perfectly for several years. Anyone know what the arrow means? Apple are no help! Coould this be due to upgrades to Itunes? Is the solution to delete the current Limewire program and re-install? Help much appreciated!

Problem Fixed

I just uninstalled Limewire and all it's files and installed the new version just released (4.5?) I had to install the Basic version because they wanted me to pay for the Pro version (again) but the basic works fine. Thanks for all of the helpfull replies to my post.

downloading Limewire4.10.5 problem

I am running a MacOSX10.39. Today I tried to download the latest version of Limewire and once the program appeared on my desktop and I double clicked to open it, it opened Microsoft Excel ! Anyone know why?

(1) try to download it using Safari -and no other browser-
(2) or rename the downloaded file by adding a .dmg at the end of the filename...if there isn't yet such an extension

I posted here 12 hours ago & my post disappeared. Philippe has covered one area. For the others:
If you recently updated to Quicktime 7.0.4 then see the sticky at the top of this section. QT 7.0.4 is buggy & conflicts with Java.

If that's not the issue, then downld Java using the "Offline" installer: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...update142.html
If it refuses to install, then go to your Mac OSX HDD > Library>Receipts folder & remove Java 1.4.2_Update2.pkg & try again to install. See sample here of where to find this package file: Receipts folder sample image

You should also do a safe reboot & repair permissions (restart whilst holding down SHIFT key until you see window saying Safe Booting), then after starting up, open Disk Utility from Utilities folder & repair permissions. Then restart normally & try again opening LW. It's generally recommended to repair permissions after installing softw or updates including OS updates.
