Hmm sounds like possible dud songs then. Try Audion (it's now FREE) & see if the same thing happens. BTW Audion can play mp3Pro & Ogg Vorbis which iTunes can't play.

BTW is your iTunes library on your computer or an external drive?
What type of mac & specifications do you have?
