Here's the location of another version of LimeWire: try this and see if it works.

Post back what happens, and we can go from there.

tried to download html...

Thanks for the help. Here's what I tried:

I downloaded the html version. I moved the file to the harddrive to install as directed. I clicked on the lime icon in my dock and a question mark appeared. I then went into finder, typed "limewire" and clicked on each lime icon and the loader (opener, or whatever it is called) started but stopped at HTML. Then, my computer asked me if I wanted to alert apple to the issue.

No luck.

What is the next step?

The Lime Icon in the Doc is just an alias to the old program (drag all those off the dock to make them "poof" and disappear).

Double-Click the limewire application that you moved from the .dmg.

???

Maybe an older version of limewire would work? I am just plucking straws. Someone out there must have a solution that will work.

Have you repaired permissions lately? Reboot whilst holding down the SHIFT key until you see the message Safe Booting. Then open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder. Repair permissions. Then reboot normally & try again to open LW. But try opening the program from the program folder, not the dock!

Have you tried deleting your LW preferences? Found here /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire
