Default the new limewire, help!

Yesterday i downloaded the new limewire to my max osx 10.3.9 and something is not quite right/wrong... When Limewire is running it slows all my other programs down and limewire itself works really really slow. When i have limewire turned on for an hour it seems to freeze. Could someone give me some advise as to what i should do (except from smashing my comp. to bits ) ?

Hey Ratna, I have the EXACT same thing happening. I too have 10.3.9 and I'm on LimeWire 4.10.9. Everything is slow, LimeWire only downloads at 1-4kb when I have a 1200 Kbps DSL connection.

Not only that, even when it downloads just one file at 1-2 kbps it still ties up most of my bandwidth and I am literally unable to do anything else. Worse yet, even when I quit LimeWire, it still holds up traffic. The only thing I can do is unplug my modem and plug it back. This resets whatever is tying up bandwidth. This only happens with LimeWire. I can use other programs to download files (such as Speed Download) and this doesn't happen anywhere else.

I am very frustrated because LimeWire at this point is useless to me .

Default maybe a fix

He Blade Blade,

Ive searched the net for solutions for the problems we have with the new limewire version, but there don't seem to be any. Even with the new java etc etc it still doesn't make a difference. Its a sad situation indeed. I've even read at forums that people with the ibook 10.3.9. who used the new limewire that there comp. now has a memory leakage. Scary!

There are a few things to try out though. Do you have the new java version yet? If not try that. You could also try and download the beta limewire version. This info i got from 'lord of the rings' that on http://www.mager.org/LimeWire/ you can download a beta lw version & choose the nightly builds link.

This unfortunatly didn't work for me. What did work was throwing my new limewire version away (all of it) and then i downloaded the 4.9.27 limewire version on tucows.com . Now limewire works as it did before i got the lw 4.10! I'am quite releaved now.

Good luck to you! Hope you'll fix it!

I've been suffering identical problems and had considered a return to older Limewire versions for a while. Have just downloaded and installed 4.9 and will see, though initial attempts still seem very clunky and the whole machine is hobbling through basic functions like an old man. Will restart to see if that helps. Hope so - life without Limewire is like a broken pencil.......pointless.
