Unhappy 'Limewire is currently connecting to the network..'

'..your search may not return many results until you are fully connected to the network.'

Is what it says when I try to search for stuff. Sorry if this is a repost of some sort, but I can't find the solution on here otherwise, or haven't been able to.

I'm running a Powerbook on 10.3.9, and have allowed Gnuttela in File Sharing options. I am connected via wi-fi, & I don't know who the ISP is. Is there someone out there who knows what I need to do to get this to run properly..?

Thanks very much in advance...

Jaz

I assume you see a brickwall in front of the small globe in the bottom right corner of the LW window. That would mean that there is somewhere a firewall blocking you to access the network. Could be your wi-fi router. Check out this thread and read through the links there. The answer for you might be somewhere.:
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=51357

In case you can't find anything and you want to post back here, please give some specs of your system and configuration:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)?
10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
11. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
12. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

Correct, there is a little brick wall.

I've tried to load that page you linked, but it won't- it just says 'contacting "www3.limewire.com"' and sits there.

I am running OSX 10.3.9 on a Mac Titanium G4 Powerbook.
Re: firewall - have enabled gnutella to fileshare (if that's what you mean?)as well as i-tunes and personal.
There is 13.14 GB (out of a total of 27.94) available.
Not sure on RAM, I'm afraid... not sure where to look!

The connection may be the issue - the pub across the road from me has wi-fi, and it's handier for me to use theirs when I'm using my laptop. For this reason, I don't know who the ISP is etc!
I am connected via the built in Airport card.

I only just installed LW, so no- not experienced at all!
I have LW 4.10.9, and Java 1.4.1_01

Thanks very much for your help...!

From the Apple Website:
"Secure Connection

Rest easy — AirPort Express takes strong measures to prevent unauthorized intrusion into your wireless network. It features a built-in firewall to protect you from gate-crashers from the Internet. It also features password protection and supports powerful encryption technologies including Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) and 128-bit WEP encryption."

That means you have to read this thread from our Mac Prof. ( ) LOTR:
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...irport+express

Let us know how you got along with the advice in the thread
