I forgot to say I just went into Limwire > Prefe. > Advance > Firewall config:

Now I had previuosly changed Listen on port to 6346(When I was following the ste by ste guide) but now it says 43257, go figure. I will change it back to 6346.

Now I don't know what happens now. I was always able to download but THE BRICK HAS GONE. I think we've all learnt something here today kids, haven't we!

I really think that either your techguy or you have misunderstood something.

first of all using 192.168.1.253 as local IP means that you have to change the IP address pool:

Setting up static ip on mac is totally different to windows.
Since when does windows have Systems preferences > Sharing > Firewall.
OR
Limwire > Prefe. > Advance > Firewall config
That ip range looks very much like a windows network configuration to me.

That IP address pool is the default on the Router... or are there different routers of the same Make and model for Windows and Mac?
