How do you install downloaded games on OSX?

Im fairly new to Macs, mainly cos my pc is busted, and Im not sure how to install any games I download onto the Mac. Obviously with a disc it'll autorun, but not downloading. I know its easy on a pc by double clicking the .exe file, but what do I do here?

Thanks
Stan

I have no idea, but I would guess that you would have a .dmg file rather than an .exe file. You double click on it and it will open with stuffit or what ever is your default opener, and drag it to your applications folder, and run it from there, or an alias(shortcut on your dock or desktop).

Some mac applications come ready to use.

I know a lot of programmes on the network are labelled as OSX and are actually .exe and of no use whatsoever quite possibly Windows viruses.

Sorry to not be much help, but I might have given you a little bit of useful information , with luck :)

.exe files are windows specific programs. They don't run on mac. Very few windows programs will run on both; very rare! If you have a disk image then use disk copy to mount it. If you have a .sit file then use StuffIt Expander to expand the archive. Sorry but if you're refering to warez then we can't discuss this on the forums. Forum Rules (click here)
