Wireless Connection Problem. (OS X 10.5.1)

Hi there, I've been using Limewire for years and never had any problems. I've had a look around the site to see if my problem is common but I don't think I found anyone else with the problem.

So here's the problem:

I have a macbook operating OS X 10.5.1
2GB RAM
2.16GHZ Core 2 Duo Processor.

I have a cable modem operating out of a belkin wireless G router. The internet is working fine and don't have any problems whatsoever. But whenever I open limewire it connects and starts downloading for about 12 - 15 minutes then it just stops dead. The router goes down and it won't work. The modem still works as the internet works on the PC the router and modem are connected to but I have to reset the router every time in order to get the internet working again. I don't know what the problem is, everything works fine until I start limewire.

Any help please!

1. Delete LW prefs folder whilst LW is closed; Deleting LW Preferences folder in OSX.

2. (a) Problems with the search, __ (b) Hostiles List

3. Disable all options under LW prefs/options > Advanced > Performance. See if that helps. If not, see 4.

4. Lower upload & download speeds slightly.

Wireless devices do struggle with heavy downloading ... resulting in unreliable speeds, p2p connection issues sometimes & the router struggling. This is not necessarily your problem but something to be aware of. Have you considered port forwarding? It's generally more reliable than UPnP for most devices ... particularly for Belkin in my experience on this forum. ;) To Port forward you first need to set up a static ip.

Sorry for my late response. :o
