Best is to put OSX in the search title. Unfortunately the osx search platform in the search type does not separate them as one would hope.

Mac files will be stored as .dmg, .zip, .img ...

i'm still confused. i downloaded a rar file but can't open it. are you saying that i need to change part of my computer to a windows computer to open it

No, you are just downloading the wrong type of file from what I understand. I had .exe files that were meant for PC not my Mac.

i found a program with osx and zip in its label, but when i tried to run it, the setup said .exe is it just labeled wrong or is there another way around it?

Is my guess too. May well be auto spammed result giving out windows virus or something. Size is one of the important factors if you know approximately how large the file should be.
