Default downloaded files won't auto transfer to itunes library on OSX 10.4

Hi-
I have a mac os 10.4.1 with the latest java update (release 6), Limewire pro4.16.6, internet via clearwire.

I have two problems:
1. When downloading a music file I often get a popup "same file already in library: you have the exact same file at Users/kenneth/shared/chocolate rasberry lemon guns.mp3. Do you want to continue dowloading anyway?"
Then if I go ahead and download the file, it doesn't show up in my itunes under limewire tunes, or in my music library. this is related to problem 2;
2. When I download a music file on limewire, it will show as "100% complete" in the "progress" bar, yet again won't show up on either my limewire tunes or in my music library. But, and this is strange, once in a while, say 10% of the time, it will properly load onto itunes. And I follow the same procedure each time to download.
Anybody able to help?
Thanks.

This has been a problems for a few years. When LW has been on for a while, iTunes seems to drop off or become unreliable importing. Best answer is to close LW & re-open when this starts happening. Else, don't auto-import to iTunes. Instead add them manually. This is what i do now so I can be sure the songs have been added to iTunes.

LW may confuse same title file as being the same when it's actually different size or attributes. That's whey the LW error message. I personally use auto Append filename when two files are of same name, then check them later before adding to iTunes to see if they are same file or not. Takes time though. To add that option, go to LW prefs > Saving > Advanced > Always Append (#) to the filename.

iTunes will add files of same name on condition they are different. ie: different file composition different size, etc.

Default Can you help me, I have a frustrating issue LW FW itunes

Hello,
I would like to obtain your help with a problem that is frustrating me a bit. I have both LW and Frostwire for quite some time now. And I have been successfully importing the songs from these two to itunes quite well until today.
I do that and as I drag the song on to itunes it does let it be there but up comes a tab saying wrong url etc etc. How can I get itunes to accept the song and play it?

I thank you for your every help. By the way, I have downloaded the newest version on all fronts thinking that this could aid. But no luck.

I thank you for thew promptest help you can give me anyone as I am a serious music advocate.

Regards,

Falcon

Be aware that iTunes will only play mp3, wav, aiff, apple lossless, aac, m4a files. It cannot play or import mp3pro (which has same file extension), ogg vorbis, wma or realplayer files. (Windows version iTunes can play wma files.)

Wrong URL .. wow that sounds odd! humm .... be sure another player can play it as well. It may be a fake-corrupt brand of file that certain groups try to spam onto the network. I wonder if a URL is within the filename & what size the files are. If less than 2 MB (2,000 KB), then I'd be suspicious. It may be a file that if used on windows would link you to a website asking you to download some player or codec ... a scam!!!

Two players to have handy for your mac osx computer: (a) Audion (click on link) which can play mp3pro & ogg vorbis files but not m4a or aac or apple lossless.
(b) VLC - (click on link) _ (choose nearest mirror site) which is a video player that can also be used as an audio stream player & thus also play normal audio files. It has support for a number of audio file formats. Abilities shown here VLC - Features

If the files cannot be played by either of those players, I'd suggest they are bad files.

When adding song files to iTunes, add them to the iTunes Library icon at the top of the playlists. If you add them to any of the playlists instead, it will not add to library but simply be referenced from the download folder from the playlist reference list.

* BTW if Audion can play the file, but iTunes can't. Then use Audion to convert it to AIFF, then import it to iTunes. You could then keep it as an aiff file or convert to apple lossless, etc. I've done that with mp3pro files, & in come cases ogg vorbis files. That's why it's handy having Audion around as a backup player.
