cant get videos to play

HI I just downloaded limewire pro last night and it successfully searches and downloads videos that i want, but everytime i double click or lauch the downloaded video I just get a blank screen and no sound. The time moves on the bottom like its playing but its not. It launches out of quicktime, but I have VLC and somehow cant get VLC to recognise the videos either. PLease help if someone knows what is going on or has any suggestions on how to remedy this, cause im losing my mind. -Kristen
