Default Download speeds lower since upgraded to Mac OSX 10.5

Hey.

I'm a returning Limwire user who had upgraded to Mac OS 10.5

I'm rather dumbfounded at the 'Download Bandwidth' setting in Preferences, where the maximum speed is noted; I'm on a reliable DSL service of about 4200...and I can remember being able to attain well over 250KB/sec in the past...but now I seem to have maxxed-out at under 40. In fact, I've never had a file download at greater than 30 since I returned.

Am I missing something here? Have things changed while I was away?

Depends on your sources & how much upload bandwidth they have available, etc. I've been able to get higher than the speeds you are getting now & from individual hosts.

Default Yes, but...

These speeds have been CONSISTENT since I returned. Over two weeks' worth of downloading.

To reiterate, I'm getting speeds of TEN PERCENT of what I used to get.

Taking an entire day to download a 600 Mb file? Come on! What's up? Seriously; something's changed.

I was getting over 100 KB/s for a single file a couple of hours ago.

Which version of LW are you using now?

Right.

I think I know what part of the 'problem' is. The slider-bar on 'Download Bandwidth' has changed... That is, the reference amounts are skewed. Just to the left of '100%', the amount of 43 comes up. This is NOT accurate. I've now set it for ''Unlimited', but I'm still only getting a 30KB/sec speed.

Previously, I know I was regularly getting 300+KB/sec with LW on video files. Now, the most I've gotten is 37.

Same ISP. Same equipment.

Something has changed.
