Signature, avatar image, etc. can be set in your Control Panel. See the User CP button top left below the title of the thread, click on it & you will see options on left side of your control panel window. :)

Signature is automatically added to all your posts unless you click the option at bottom of post not to show signature. ;)

eg: my penguins is an avatar image.

my desktop is cluttered up with LW and it's installer and the older version does the same thing as the latest one did AND I COULDN'T EVEN FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET IT IN MY DOCK :annoyed: . l'm SO frustrated. Your help will be appreciated ;).

l use a Mac, which is totally different from a PC, which l've never used (the rules forbid saying how long, but a LONG time) and don"t know what a control panel is except from people talking. l like your penguins, though. l thought you'd posted in Mac OSX forums.

BYW l forgot to say, l got LW 4.16.2 + it did the same thing

lt quit right away after appearing on the desktop, cluttering it up with the installer, which l can et rid of, and LW, which l'll do away with after you or some one, shows me it'll never work. :licklips:

See image below (click to see larger view).

Not sure why you are having such problems. How did you go with a fresh account?

What type of mac do you have, model, ram, disk space, drives, processor speed, etc.?

Which OSX version are you running? After all this time, you still had not stated it. ;)

Personally I try to keep my desktop clean. But I do use multiple hard disk drives, so can easily arrange my things. I don't like using the OSX system drive for holding my personal files, which of course is the default location. And applications that don't require being on the system drive I move/install to a drive-partition of their own. Likewise for my iTunes music library. I like to keep the system drive just for basic system duties where possible. (As well as keep as much space available on there, since OSX uses so much Virtual Memory (VM).)

BTW to place an item into the Dock, can drag & drop it there, else after opening, move its location in the dock else, control-click & choose Keep in Dock from the sub-menu that appears. Can add folders, etc. to the Dock. You probably already know that but ..

Depending on which computer & OSX version you are using, & if none of the above & PM suggestions work, could try an older version in mean time. ;) There does seem to be a problem with LW 4.18 on many intel machines.

chante.00 July 23rd, 2008 12:40 PM

As my earlier PM said, l have the last of the PowerPCs, no Intel, This machine won't support Snow Leopard, l need to find out more about for my next machine. SL comes out sometime in 09, as you know. BTW, the Java may not be the latest, my correction. Also my

Try LW 4.8.1 as suggested in PM. I have a suspicion the problem is related to the method in how you installed Leopard OSX 10.5. ;)

BTW what happened when you set up a new account? Same problem?

You might have to end up reinstalling Leopard, which is not as painful as it sounds really. Only painful part is doing the updates.

Also, do you have any partitions or 2nd drives on your computer?
